High Fructose Gel provides 55g of carbohydrate and 250 mg of sodium per gel, derived from maltodextrin and fructose, with a ratio of 10:8.

This formulation based on "multi-transportable carbohydrates" has been shown through studies* that during prolonged exercise, the use of carbohydrates absorbed in the intestine via different transporters is the only way to increase the rate of assimilation and oxidation of exogenous carbohydrates above 60 g/hour*.

Research confirms that ideally, carbohydrate sources should be combined. We have chosen Maltodextrin to control molecular weight/osmolarity, and the other source must be Fructose.

MALTODEXTRIN:

It is absorbed in the intestine via the SLGT-1 transporter and is converted into glucose to travel to cells and provide them with quick energy.

It has a high glycemic index, resulting in a rapid increase in blood glucose, with instant energy release.

It offers rapid gastric emptying due to its high molecular weight and low osmolarity, facilitating digestion and reducing gastrointestinal side effects.

FRUCTOSE:

It is absorbed in the intestine using GLUT5 transporters, which are different from those that absorb other carbohydrates; the absorbed fructose is directed from the intestine to the liver via GLUT2 transporters, replenishing hepatic glycogen stores lost during intense physical exercise.

This results in gradual absorption with consistent and progressive energy release.

For this reason, the combination of both, maltodextrin and fructose, allows for the digestion and assimilation of a high amount of carbohydrates per hour while minimizing the risk of gastrointestinal issues.
